YMMV / Spawn: In the Demon's Hand

Go To

  • Complacent Gaming Syndrome: Clown is a recognisable starter character with a practical toolset, good specials, and a fun and powerful gimmick with his Violator transformation (and the latter's 80% damage uppercut). A good, consistent choice for multiplayer, Boss Attack Mode and in-game tournaments alike.
    • Characters with a strong focus on projectile spam, such as Spawn IV or the Admonisher, are a popular pick for quickly clearing the Boss Attack mode due to their projectiles absolutely shredding Giant bosses' lifebars.
  • Game-Breaker: Gatekeeper in the Dreamcast port. This character is insane; strong and fast with the highest jump height in the game, a standard combo that sends you flying and a lethal two-hit dash attack that can potentially kill you outright from full health. Gatekeeper also packs two separate projectiles: an explosive bolt that he can fire off with no penalty when most other explosives either use limited ammo or are Cast from Hit Points, and a fireball that can be launched faster and hurts giants without giving them invincibility frames. On top of this nonsense, Gatekeeper also has what might be the single best special in the game: the ability to light enemies on fire from almost anywhere on-screen after a short charge-up, which not only homes in but also deals catastrophic damage (the only saving grace being that it can't hit airborne opponents). Gatekeeper might just be one of the most ridiculous characters in any multiplayer game ever and definitely deserves his shared final boss title for the tournament mode, alongside Black Brimstone.
  • No Problem with Licensed Games: Many agree that this is the best Spawn multiplayer game.
