- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Rather infuriatingly, Maureen's murder by the bodyguard of one of Billy's rivals goes absolutely nowhere even though the trailer presented it as a much larger part of the movie. Many feel it would've been much more satisfying to at least see the murderer brought to justice before the ending.
- Too Bleak, Stopped Caring: The movie is extremely bleak and shrouded in a sense of hopelessness up until the very end. Billy's situation is so tragic and surrounded by death that despite his ultimate victory in the end, a lot of viewers walked away from this film feeling pretty crummy.
