YMMV / South Park S 3 E 15 Mr Hankeys Christmas Classics

Go To

  • Crosses the Line Twice:
    • Santa Claus getting frustrated with Jesus hogging the spotlight during their duet and storming off in a fury, shouting "Fuck you, Jesus!"
    • The entire "Christmas Time in Hell" musical number, which features Adolf Hitler, Mao Zedong, John F. Kennedy and his son, Gene Siskel, and Princess Diana all celebrating the holidays together in Hell. And the whole thing is kicked off with Hitler portrayed as a Woobie, weeping about not having a Christmas tree for the holiday.
    • "Merry Fucking Christmas".
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • In the song "Merry Fucking Christmas," Mr. Garrison sings about bringing Christmas to the Middle East. This was eventually done three seasons later in "Red Sleigh Down", which implies Mr. Garrison wasn't successful (then again, since it's just a song, it's possible that he didn't actually go there, just sang about going there).
    • The joke about making room in Hell for Andy Dick after his many, many, legal and personal troubles that had only begun when this episode aired.
  • Heartwarming in Hindsight: During "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas", the four main boys sing about still being together through the years. Over twenty years later and they still are.
  • Retroactive Recognition: The boy that "produces" Mr. Hankey is Bradley Biggle, aka Mintberry Crunch.
  • Squick: Mr. Hankey sticking himself into all the children's mouths during the opening song and staining their faces with shit for the remainder of the scene.
