- Unexpected Character: Mecha Sonic is definitely this, considering Sega's strict policy against mixing the Modern and Classic iterations of the franchise. Also, Mecha Knuckles to a lesser extent, since he was originally a one-time boss that hasn't been acknowledged by Sega following Sonic Advance.
