YMMV / Sodor the Early Years

Go To

  • Broken Base: The switch to Railway Series style models caused a split in the viewers of the series. Some like it (especially since WildNorWester releases almost all of his models, giving users high-quality RWS models), whereas others hate it.
  • I Knew It!:
    • Early in the first half of Season 1 of The Modern Years, it was said that a steam locomotive was being restored at Crovan's Gate Steamworks. Fans immediately came to the conclusion that it was Lily, the Wellsworth & Suddery O2 tank engine who had mentored Thomas on running a branchline. When the episode "Homecoming" was released, they were proven correct.
    • Averted with the "Devious Way" trilogy that capped off Season 2 of The Modern Years. A few fans believed that the trouble on the Little Western was the work of either a mail coach (disgruntled after the discontinuation of dedicated post trains in "Percy's Post"), or Caden (going mad after being informed at the end of his eponymous episode that he was on thin ice, and decided to take someone down with him). They were proven wrong when a ballast hopper was revealed to be the culprit, and before that, by Word of God.
