- Harsher in Hindsight: The Branch Line Incident ends with the revelation that Bill is not only better but he forgives his brother. However The Vicarstown Gambit would reveal that not only does Bill not forgive Ben, Bill is slated to be scrapped due to lack of funds to repair him.
- He Really Can Act: While the acting in the series is well received overall, Matt Michaud, the creator of Enterprising Engines, gets special mention for his role as the unhinged psychopath Perry aka P.T. Boomer, who hides a threatening aura beneath a false kindness. As someone who's not generally known for villainous roles, he pulls this off remarkably well.

- The Woobie: Bill and Ben go through a lot of drama and hardship throughout the series. Out of the two, Bill gets the worse of it with the saddle tank being damned to be scrapped after the NWR runs out of funds to repair him and that’s before Paul Maxwell abducts him.
