YMMV / Siren's Lament

• Abandon Shipping: Lyra/Ian lost most of its steam after Shon kissed Lyra and took the siren curse upon himself in episode 84.
• Ensemble Dark Horse: Aleah gathers a large fanbase for her mature reaction to her and Shon's break up. The reveal that she is the Poseidon only shot this up even further.
• Epileptic Trees: In flashbacks, it's revealed that Hona looked a bit like Aleah back in the day. Fans seized on this in the comments section and what it might mean.
  • This comment was intentional, as it is later revealed that Hona is Aleah’s older sister, the one she had been obsessively looking for for years.
• Ho Yay:
  • Frey's second in command Helix seems overly concerned about him. Tua even used this to relate to his (romantic) relationship with Pele so that Helix took the siren curse, which is something normally reserved for people with romantic heartbreak.
  • Ian occasionally flirts with Shon, though it's just another way for him to annoy him, as when Shon teased him back he immediately cringed and expressed visible disgust. On the other hand Ian finds himself second guessing his single minded desire to transfer the curse only after Shon tells him his plan to sacrifice himself to save Lyra, and the amulet keeps indicating Shon is going to end up a siren. Which could just be platonic

• Jerkass Woobie: Frey. He isn't a bad person (as evidenced by rescuing Helix), he is just consumed by grief against sirens because he thought that they murdered his brother (who is revealed to be alive),
• One True Pairing: Even with the fanbase splitting on who Lyra should be with, they unanimously agree to ship Tua/Pele.
