• Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: In 2019 WWE ran a series of bits where Shelton will appear backstage on ''SmackDown and be asked a question, then say nothing and just look around for no reason. It's never explained why he does this, or what the point of these bits are.
• Critical Dissonance: While Shelton has been rightfully praised by smarks for his in-ring work, crowds have never cared for him much because although Shelton can put on a good match, he's not particularly charismatic and can't cut a decent promo to save his life.
• Ensemble Dark Horse: See that Just Here for Godzilla section below? His popularity on the brand was second only to their champion and fellow dark horse Christian, and he didn't even have many shots at the title. Outside of that, he's popular for athleticism (best shown during ladder matches), and is often considered one of the best wrestlers to never win the world title.
• Just Here for Godzilla: Shelton was one of 2009 WWE ECW's two highest draws — the other was Christian. They would effectively be the only two reasons why anyone would watch the show by that point after the 2009 WWE Draft completely depleted its roster of WWE ECW's best talent.
• Tear Jerker: His interview about winning the Tag Team Championships for the late Shad Gaspard (who died in April).
