** The fact that ''Shalka'' was intended to be the debut canonical Doctor before the news of the 2005 revival rendered it an AlternateContinuity becomes this when ''[[Recap/DoctorWhoS38E10TheTimelessChildren The Timeless Children]]'' revealed that the Doctor has had many lives they don't remember. Someone deleted this but didn't give a reason, since fans do call this version the Shalka Doctor since he's meant to be an AU of the Ninth Doctor.

Added DiffLines:

* FanNickname: This version of the Doctor is often called the "Shalka Doctor" to tell him apart from the canon Doctors.

* NightmareFuel: Dear God, the Shalka. Between the sounds as they're stalking (there's a reason it's what the serial is named after) and the knowledge of what they can DO to you, these guys easily stand up to anything seen in the TV series in terms of how many nights you'll be kept up. This isn't something to watch alone at night, no matter how old you are or how badass you think you are. Specifically, [[spoiler:Alison's description of how the Shalka forced her friend to torture herself to death with molten lava]] is one of the most horrific moments in any ''Doctor Who'' canon. How horrific? Alison describes how [[spoiler:her friend was forced by the Shalka to ''spread molten lava on her body'', while screaming for the others to help her. They're frozen by the Shalka's sonic control, and can't move to help her as she eventually loses her hands and buries her face in the lava entirely]]. It's entirely too R-rated for an online-exclusive serial based on a kids show.

** "I'm the Doctor, that is [[spoiler: the Master]], who I see isn't holding on to anything, and ''this''... is a black hole. Bye!"
** "Well, as the actress said to the bishop, I'm not human and I don't care."
** "[[MythologyGag I am the Master, and you will...]][[CatchphraseInterruptus learn to like me when you get to know me.]]"
** While the Doctor is creating his improvised explosive in the store:
--> '''Joe:''' You're not human.
--> '''Doctor:''' Decent of you to say.
--> '''Alison:''' What are you?
--> '''Doctor:''' Mildly annoyed.
** The Doctor's reaction [[ItMakesSenseInContext after his opera singing causes some Shalka to burst?]] [[DeadpanSnarker "Perfect pitch. Finally."]]
** As the Doctor transforms his phone into another door into the TARDIS to escape the black hole, he discovers that [[OhCrap the door won't open without a handle.]]
-->'''Doctor:''' Don't worry about the sign!
** As the Doctor and Allison have a farewell chat with the military, the Master abruptly starts the TARDIS engines.
-->'''Doctor:''' The Master wants to go.
-->'''Alison:''' Does it always have to make that awful racket?
-->'''Doctor:''' I'm afraid you'll have to get used to that.
-->'''Alison:''' Is there anything else I'll have to get used to?
-->'''Doctor:''' Ship rules. No running, no jumping, no pushing and no slapping.
-->'''Alison:''' Aww...
