YMMV / Scarlet Lady S5 E14: Hawkmoth

• Catharsis Factor:
  • Seeing Gabriel unmasked and exposed as Hawkmoth, called out and taken to task for his crimes. The author's comment on the page where he finds himself teleported behind bars is "I'll do what those cowards won't."
  • Adrien gets to learn about his father's crimes, as well as what happened to his mother, and actually grieve and process those complicated emotions, surrounded and supported by people who care about him in all the ways Gabriel never did.
• Moral Event Horizon: If he hadn't managed it before, Hawkmoth decisively crosses it here. On top of attempting to enslave/akumatize an entire city by pushing all of its residents past the Despair Event Horizon, he gave the damaged Peacock Pin to Chloé, a girl he's known for a good chunk of her young life. He did so fully aware of what the broken Miraculous had done to his wife, but simply did not care' if she wound up comatose or worse from unwittingly tapping into her own life force. He shows absolutely no remorse when she starts coughing up blood; his sole defense is to self-righteously claim he did everyone for his family, and that none of the consequences of his actions would matter once he won and rewrote reality with his Wish. His actions upset Chat Noir enough to fuel his Traumatic Superpower Awakening.
• Unexpected Character:
  • No one expected that Chloé would actually be using the Peacock Miraculous instead of being just Akumatized.
  • And no one certainly expected Fu to use the Rabbit Miraculous. You know, the one Miraculous the author said she wasn’t going to use?
