  • Author's Saving Throw: When he uploaded a video allegedly showcasing a Discord interview he had with Peluchin Entertainment (real name Mattias), a Chilean YouTuber who murdered his cat on camera, many of his viewers who also spoke Spanish pointed out that Mattias' grammar was broken and used incorrect pronouns, indicating that it was not really him. In response, Eric owned up to his mistake and apologized for it, even taking the interview down so as to not mislead anyone.
  • Epileptic Trees: Many people speculate that his update video on the case of John Lang was created because the corrupt Fresno police threatened him.
  • Overshadowed by Controversy:
    • Among his fanbase, most people know about the scandal behind his "Redditor Stuck in a Cult" update video. The original video was about a Reddit user named Isaiah who was allegedly stuck in a cult, and Eric was unsure if the situation was real or not. In the update video, he concluded that the posts were a hoax in an attempt to stop someone from "exposing" him. It turns out that not only was Eric in the same Discord group that gave light to Isaiah's story, but he was also wrong about the story being fake, and used the information the group gathered without their permission. Worse, while trying to defend his reasoning for making the video, he stated that he needed the money to pay for his college (since the original video was one of his most viewed), which made him come off as caring more about ad revenue than Isaiah's life. It came out that Eric had only entered the Discord group for the sake of finding something creepy to talk about, ignoring the severity of the situation; the person who was "trying to expose him" was actually trying to make what he said public in order to show his viewers that his actions weren't right. He also responded to an email that stated that it would be his fault if Isaiah wasn't helped in a snarky manner, which most people regarded as incredibly rude even with his doubt over the situation. This situation ended up being the tipping point for his fans, with many calling him out for his behavior and some even unsubscribing.
    • Shortly after this, his video analyzing the controversy behind drag kid Desmond Napoles has garnered negative viewer response and is widely considered the worst video he's ever made. Many people felt he was far too easy on those involved, to the point that some interpreted him as outright defending a murderer, and that he held back his true opinions/dismissed strong evidence out of fear of being politically incorrect.
  • Tear Jerker: The story of Le Loyon, an alleged "cryptid" in Switzerland in the form of a humanoid figure dressed in a cloak and gas mask. It turned out, Le Loyon was a completely ordinary, albeit eccentric, person who had simply wanted to go on nature walks, and indeed, they never once harmed anyone during said walks or showed any signs of wanting to do so...which was detailed in a possible suicide note they left behind shortly before disappearing from the town forever. To add insult to injury, the townspeople celebrated Le Loyon's possible death rather than realizing what they had done wrong.
  • Win Back the Crowd: After the scandal that his Desmond Napoles video had caused within his fanbase, the videos made soon after it proved that it was just an embarrassing blunder and would not become the norm for him.
    • Since the cult video scandal, he has not been involved in any controversy and has seemed to learn from his behavior.
