  • Alternate Character Interpretation:
    • Are Tony and Janet romantically interested in each other, or do they just become instant friends? Especially considering Tony just comes to her and starts talking, gets her to come see him perform the next night (which she does), and then asks her to help him write his material, which could be him seeing her as better at comedy (though she is merely writing a report on laughter and doesn't really say anything funny to him) or him wanting to spend more time with her.
    • Is Tony aware that his act needs work before Janet gives him feedback? Tony confidently tells her to come the next night if she wants to see a lot of laughter, which his act does not generate.
    • At what point did Tony decide to pretend to lose his voice and have Janet go on in public instead? Was it shortly before the competition, or was it after their argument and before he begged her to continue helping him? His insistence that what she writes works for him could be that, or could be him being desperate to play his prank.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Considering the original title was Introducing... Janet, it is unfortunate that this is the only known acting role for Adah Glassbourg, who played Janet.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • Tony's first line in the film, regarding the Battle of the Buffoons comedy competition, is "this is going to be my first shot at showbiz". The film itself was the first released featuring Jim Carrey (he had also had a small role in All in Good Taste, which was made before but released after).
    • Tony loses his voice and needs Janet to go on in his place. Then it turns out he was faking it the whole time. Jim Carrey would later star in Man on the Moon as Andy Kaufman, a performer who was known for pulling elaborate tricks on people, including those closest to him, including his manager and in some cases his writer, and the audience is not in on the jokes until the reveals.
  • Hollywood Pudgy: Janet is referred to as being fat a few times, but her appearance isn't really that fat.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: Most likely the only reason people check this out is for Jim Carrey.
