- Applicability: Even if the song isn't explicitly about LGBTQ+ experiences, many listeners have interpreted "Chosen Family" in this sense, given that the idea of "family of choice" is a recurring concept among queer people. Especially so since Rina herself identifies as pansexual and the duet version features Elton John, a gay man.
- Fandom Rivalry:
- The 1975 and Rina's fans — or even just non-fans who support Rina over Matty — tend to fight these days because of Rina calling Matty out for racist jokes. She even dedicated her song "STFU" to him at Glastonbury Festival 2023.
- An alleged dispute between Rina and Charli XCX caused this between the two pop stars' fans. (And even non-fans were picking sides.) Amid the controversy, XCX quickly posted that she and Rina had made up and it was just a "disagreement between friends."
- Narm Charm: A natural result of her elaborately theatrical Camp style. She's inspired by the early 2000s after all.
