  • Crosses the Line Twice: The topic of suicide, is, obviously, not funny. The idea of an entire race of people whose insides turn into impossibly delicious spaghetti, but only when they die by suicide, is ridiculous enough. But then every single avenue of the premise that the episode explores manages to be hilarious, touching, and just plain wrong all at the same time.
  • Moral Event Horizon: The President of the planet 41 Kepler B cuts funding towards suicide prevention - even allowing the private sector to encourage suicide - and allows gluttonous aliens to invade the planet and feed on the inhabitants all because it will stimulate the economy.
  • Paranoia Fuel: For anyone who has ever contemplated suicide, this episode can conjure up the idea that society is counting on you taking that plunge.
  • Ron the Death Eater: Amber - Fred's love interest - is seen as a Gold Digger by the fandom since she didn't want to speak to Fred when he was struggling but left her husband and kids for Fred when he found success. In her defense, Fred dumped her after high school and whenever she refused to speak to him was when Fred was an unemployed dropout with substance abuse problems. When Fred established his Fredblox business, he'd well and truly cleaned up his act and we don't know the finer details regarding Amber's relationship with her husband.
  • Teardryer: Fred Bunks - the last man to be harvested for spaghetti - has all of his memories broadcast across the cosmos before he dies. We see he had dreams of becoming an architect, only to fail because dreams can only get you so far. He fell in love, but the relationship ended on a bad note. Fred's life seemingly spirals downwards once he flunks college and culminates with his both of his parents dying. Fred then comes up with the idea for a LEGO-like product that makes him rich. He reconnects with his ex-girlfriend and she leaves her husband for him. They get married and live a good life together, with the last memory being his wife's gravestone. The fact that Fred's life was a mixture of highs and lows makes it so relatable it actually cancels out the inherent sadness of witnessing the memories of a dying man.
  • The Woobie: Amber's ex-Husband, who gets left by her after Fred Bunks reconnects with her. If we look back at the episode, we also realise this man committed suicide with his intestines being consumed as Spaghetti by Rick and Morty with the Smith family.
  • Woobie Species: The entire population of 41 Kepler B - sans their government - are turned into livestock the moment it's revealed that they turn into ready-made food if they commit suicide.
