• Fanon: Why Rick killed himself when transported into Jerry's brain is never revealed, but the consensus among fans is that Jerry's more pronounced empathy meant it couldn't take all the horrible things Rick did in the past.
• Harsher in Hindsight: In the cold opening Rick states that his genius wasn't a gift, but a result of choice. In The Stinger for "Unmortricken" we see somebody go through the exact same history Rick went through, only to turn out nothing like him (although that does not prove that his intelligence was his choice, but that his callousness was). Being Rick really is a choice.
