YMMV / Rick And Morty S 6 E 8 Analyze Piss

Go To

  • Accidental Aesop: Rick's choosing to see Dr. Wong of his own volition and ends up displaying the greatest amount Character Development in the series so far goes to show that therapy can work. But you have to make the active decision to attend of your own volition and be willing to accept the advice you're given.
  • Crosses the Line Twice: Rick as Pissmaster gives the orphan bomb squad of Orphan Island piss pops.
  • Spiritual Successor: With the episode containing a Toilet Humour surface-level theme but actually carrying a tragic theme underneath that hits Rick hard, the episode is seen by many as one to "The Old Man and the Seat".
  • Squick:
    • Everything about Pissmaster. He wears a suit that not only sprays urine but also shares the same space as his own body. He's old enough to have an adult daughter yet has no reservations talking about the teenage Summer in a perverted sense. When he kills himself, his corpse is left in a flooded bathtub, with the dim lighting leaving it unclear if it's bathwater or urine. Where he collects the urine, or how he produces so much himself, is a complete mystery, which doesn't help with the squick at all.
      • When Rick saves the Orphan Bomb Squad, he gives them piss (lolli)pops. Hopefully that's just a name and not an indication of what they are made of...
    • Blagnar of the Galactic Council provides the mystical Orbs to those who are worthy. According to his associate, an orb becomes sticky or slimy if the holder is pure, though Jerry is reasonably grossed out by this.
  • Tear Jerker: When Rick discovers Pissmaster has a daughter immediately after the supervillain committed suicide. The poor woman hasn't heard from her father since he was publicly humiliated and she's very worried she may have played a part in his downward spiral by bad mouthing him on her podcast. Rick has to pretend to be Pissmaster to give the daughter relief and later redeem him.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: As per his "Flamingo Dad" alias, Jerry goes off into space to fight off evil. This could've been a great scenario to introduce Space Beth in the middle of whatever she is up to in Space.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Rick and Morty actually see Jerry become "Flamingo Dad" and fight the Space Hitlers in advance in "Full Meta Jackrick" when they get through the opening titles. This is never brought up in this episode.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Some find it hard to sympathize with Pissmaster even after his suicide, his very appearance was him going to someone's house, spraying it with piss and throwing insults precisely to provoke a fight, with the sexualization of a minor being In-Universe the last straw. The fact that Pissmaster blames Jerry feels more like he can't take responsibility for his own actions, and the fact he has a family he ignored to pursue his dream of fame (by, again, beating up people around the universe) makes him look more self-centered than relatable.
