• He Really Can Act: Chris Parnell gets in a good display of his dramatic chops as Hermit Jerry, absolutely selling the heartbreak and frustration at Morty for leaving most of his family to die and him completely alone.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: While they're dying on the spaceship, Morty blurts out in despair "Nobody quits Twitter". However, after Elon Musk's aquisition of Twitter and the ensuing fallout, this fact has been put in doubt, at least a little.
  • Jerry finding new motivation to keep living from reading Batman: The Dark Knight Returns is rather ironic considering that Chris Parnell would eventually be cast in My Adventures with Superman as long-time Teen Titans/Batman villain Slade "Deathstroke" Wilson.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Many fans disliked how Cronenberg Jerry got killed off in the stinger, wishing he would play a role as a more badass Jerry in the following episodes.
• Too Cool to Live: Cronenberg Jerry has become very badass even compared to his previous appearences in "Solaricks", and therefore, gets shot and killed by Rick Prime in the stinger of the same episode.
• The Woobie: Hermit Jerry. This version of Jerry has had the misfortune of his world turning into an eldritch nightmare, but also of being abandoned by his son for another dimension. When Morty returned, he only treated his former family as an exhibit to his "new" Summer, which Hermit Jerry actively notes in his "The Reason You Suck" Speech. By this episode Hermit Jerry has not just lost Summer and Beth, he rightfully is disgusted by his returned son's treatment of his original family as disposable, and takes issues with Morty's complimenting of his Took a Level in Badass.
  Hermit Jerry: You abandoned us.
  Morty: I deserve that but it- it improved you.
  Hermit Jerry: Oh, am I cool enough for you now? (scoffs) That was easy, it only cost me fucking everything.
  • That said, having captured Morty and his Summer, confiscating their portal gun, destroying said gun (and their chance to escape), attempting to murder the current Summer, and overlooking the fact that the Council of Ricks then arrested Summer and Morty does Hermit Jerry no favors, making him a bit of a Jerkass Woobie.
    • Especially when you remember that neither Jerry, Beth or Summer cared that Morty went missing from their world, and even expressed that they were happier with him gone...
    • Although it must be considered that they said it after he and Rick transformed the world's population in a mass of Cronenberg monsters and bailed. Wrecking the portal gun is another understandable reaction, since it shows Morty clearly had the technology to go back and only bothered doing so to use his former family as an exhibit to make a point to Summer (plus with his wife & daughter, was forcing Morty to stay while planning to kill Summer), and the fact they were arrested doesn't change the fact that, once freed, he once again ignored his family who he knew was left frozen in an apocalyptic wasteland (and Jerry confirms that this is actually what caused Beth and Summer's death).
