• Harsher in Hindsight: The Season 5 episode "Rickternal Friendshine of the Rickless Mort" revealed that Rick actually has longtime feelings for Birdperson. His bitterness towards the wedding and extreme distress over Birdperson's death add a few extra layers of tragedy thanks to this knowledge.
  • When Morty and Beth are raging about Rick supposedly abandoning them again and going off in his infinite adventures with his infinite family, Rick hears everything and sports a sad expression before turning himself in. Although it's suggested Rick is remorseful about leaving Beth originally, "Rickmurai Jack" will reveal Rick never abandoned his Beth, and never tried to replace her until after decades after her death.
  • While claiming to be Jerry turning Rick in is portrayed here as a way for his family to be able to go safely back to Earth, the next season will confirm Rick also did this to drive an unbridgeable gap between Jerry and the rest of the family, especially Beth.
