- Older Than They Think: This book introduced the idea of using Horrorland to connect the Goosebumps universe together years before Goosebumps HorrorLand would expand on it.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Fans tend to like the idea of having paranormal investigators wanting to look into Horrorland, as well as how their show is used to establish that some of the Goosebumps books being set in the same universe. But the latter idea is dropped early on, and the characters used are from disliked entries. Instead the story ends up rehashing the first book and doesn't expand on Horrorland further despite the tease of it being under management.
