- Adaptation Displacement: Most people who are even aware of the franchise only played the Sega Master System games and are completely unaware of the original TV anime's existence.

- The first opening and the ending songs are delightfully catchy tunes.
- The OST from the series and the sequel OVA's own music are truly a treat to the ears.
- Brazilians Love Red Photon Zillion: The anime series was aired on Brazil's local channels back in the 80s and was a hit to the point that various merchandise for the franchise was officially marketed in the Brazilian market when the show was airing. In fact Brazil is probably the only country to have completely dubbed the entire series in a local language and so much of the Zillion fandom (who didn't get introduced via the Sega games) are from Brazil if the internet is any indication.
