YMMV / Red Dwarf Season VI "Out of Time"

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: Of all the future Dwarfers, Future Lister gets the least development in the aired episode, although a deleted scene featured him justifying their lifestyle of visiting history's worst with the observation "Who wants to go round Mahatma Gandhi's for an all-night rave?". Since Future Lister rarely speaks in the aired episode, this has prompted some speculation that he objected to his shipmates' actions and was reduced to a brain in a jar as punishment, forced to watch a lifestyle he would otherwise despise.
  • Fan-Preferred Cut Content: Some fans prefer the alternate ending where Rimmer gets a heroic moment by destroying the time drive and reverting things to normal, then acting humble about it afterwards.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Kryten's payback at Lister when he was believed to be a lower model than the former can come off as more mean-spirited than cathartic to some, especially since Kryten's revenge is pretty much baseless; whilst it is apparent that Lister is a complete slob, making cleaning up after him more than a bit annoying, it's been demonstrated that Kryten enjoys cleaning. Take "Legion" for example, where his fantasy suite is the chance to clean a completely filthy room and in all honesty he's never actually complained about Lister's laziness and filth before, with Lister himself telling him to tone it down with the master-servant relationship. Speaking of which, the fact that Kryten immediately starts treating Lister like dirt is pretty harsh, considering that Lister was actively teaching Kryten how to be his own person, and makes him come off as an Ungrateful Bastard.
