  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Even though he only appeared in nine episodes and disappeared from the show after the third season, Laplante managed to become a fan-favorite thanks to Alexis Martin's dynamic performance.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: In one episode, Jocelyne tries to hypnotize Giroux in order to make him give up his smoking habit. She convinces him to be hypnotized by asking him what's the point of having a healthy brain if you have lung cancer. Giroux's actor, Pierre Claveau, passed away from cancer two years after the show ended.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • In a Season 2 episode, Dominique tries to predict the main characters' future. Said episode shows that she will potentially replace Jocelyne as the school's psychologist 15 years later. Two seasons later, Dominique decides to become a psychologist after a trip to France.
    • Also from Season 2, after Vincent graded the school staff in his newspaper and gave 38% to Giroux, the latter angrily says that he'd like to see the young journalist in his place. The following season features an episode where Vincent wins a contest to replace Giroux as the principal for a day. At the end of said episode, it's revealed that the teenager having won the contest was done deliberately by Giroux so that he could have a better understanding of what the principal usually goes through.
    • One episode starts with a scene where Maria states that she hates rap music and thinks it would only be a dumb fad that wouldn't last long. Considering that such music is still popular today, she was wrong about it.
    • During an episode where Carl was interested into dating Dominique, he suggests to her that they go see Dumb and Dumber 2. She then complains that it's such a bad movie. This was many years before Dumb and Dumber got a prequel and an actual sequel (neither of which were well-received by critics).
  • Retroactive Recognition:
    • Patrick Groulx, a well-known Quebecer comedian, appeared in an episode of the first season. This was long before he became famous in the early 2000's.
    • Likewise, a Season 4 episode featured Jean-François Mercier, another well-known Quebecer comedian who wasn't famous until the early 2000's.
  • Squick: While Dawson Casting was in full effect on the show, there are still episodes when an adult guest star would hit on one of the teenage characters, like the lead singer of fictional band Guylain Pingouins hitting on 15-year old Maria Lopez.
    • Carl also had a habit of going after older women. Most would turn him down, some others not.
