YMMV / Psycho-Pass Providence

Go To

  • Awesome Music: Ling Tosite Sigure and EGOIST eventually performed one last time for the franchise to do the OP and ED for Providence with "alexithymiaspare" and "Toujisya". This also served as the final occasion we will ever hear EGOIST singing for this franchise as "Toujisya" was EGOIST's final song before the duo disbanded in October 2023, with ryo from Supercell moving on to new projects and chelly focusing on an independent solo career under the name "reche".
  • Continuity Lockout: The movie assumes that viewers are knowledgeable about the events in Season 3 and the Sinners of the System trilogy given that the story has the Season 3 characters such as Arata, Kei, and Maiko and shows the fates of Arata's father and Kei's brother and the reason for Akane's incarceration in Season 3.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Akane and Tonami's debate about humanity's reliance on Artificial Intelligence seems closer to home given The New '20s have brought discussion of artificial intelligence and its potential impact in society after the introduction of ChatGPT and A.I.-Generated Artwork in 2022. This also brought a lot of discussion on the possible use of AI in law enforcement which was debated in the first part of the movie when Akane is against shutting down the Ministry of Justice, fearing that the Sibyl System might abuse its power as she considered it to be flawed.
  • Salvaged Story:
    • The movie gives more spotlight on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Peacebreaker plot which had been alluded several times in the Sinners of the System trilogy and Season 3. It also provided a reason on why Chief Kasei brought Kougami back to Japan despite his rebellion and disobedience for killing Makishima.
    • Season 3 lacks a discussion regarding the moral implications of the Sibyl System's usage which has been explored much in the first two seasons and the 2015 movie. This is because none of the Season 3 cast ever questioned them. The Providence movie brought this back as it is related to the story and Akane's concern about the Sibyl System's intention to abolish the Ministry of Justice.
