*** His cybernetic minions. They are half-organic, half-synthetic monstrosities not unlike [[Franchise/MassEffect Husks]], assembled as if by someone with only a rudimentary understanding of human anatomy.
** Snare, the cyborg spider--as the [[WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes arachnophobic]] Valerie discovers. It's only in appearance, though, as Snare turns out to be quite mild-mannered.
** The goal of the Shadow Court? In Warpen's words, to "[[OmnicidalManiac destroy cities in mass sacrifices]] [[SealedEvilInACan to unlock one of the thousand gates that block]] [[EldritchAbomination the daemon lord.]]" It is seen first-hand in the Battle Re-Enactment Room, where Wardson destroys nearly an entire city.
** In the past, Gill's leg [[AnArmAndALeg is gruesomely hacked off from the knee below]] with his own shovel by Ezekiel.
** Everything about the legend of [[EldritchAbomination Terminus]]...and the fact that she turns out to be real.

*** Alexei (no pun intended). He has had multiple close brushes with death, and most of his family is dead; the latter is part of what drives him to his KnightTemplar tendencies, making him double as a WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds.
*** Tala, who was kidnapped at birth and raised by a supervillain family, was treated less like a person and more like an asset. Though outwardly harsh and belligerent around most people, she only shows her vulnerable side to Val, Alderon, and Talan.
*** Surprisingly, Talan qualifies, given the revelation about the incident Eris put him through.
*** As a LivingEmotionalCrutch for James, Lily provides a lot of emotional stability for him. She does, however, show signs of vulnerability after she talks about her past. Her mother was horrifically abusive, but it just ended up inspiring Lily to be the nurturing mother figure she never had.
** JerkassWoobie: Swilium, especially when he is shown [[CryCute breaking into tears.]]
*** Emily has trouble showing her pain, [[spoiler:coming from (and being rejected by) the same project that created Lightning]]--hence her (albeit fleeting) resentment of Layla. She also mentions that she nearly drowned in a huge flood during a hurricane when she was 13, and it's only because of Magi that she's still alive.
** StoicWoobie: James, easily. Power Academy is his life's work, and he fears he will have nowhere to go if it fails--and it's already in danger of failing. It's not until he opens up to Lily that his inner turmoil is made apparent. His unpleasant past with Jane only increases the woobie factor. [[spoiler:And now his life is on the line thanks to a DealWithTheDevil he made to get the school built on time.]]

** Gill wouldn't be nearly as awesome if he didn't have such profound tendencies for improvisation.
** Not unlike Harken and Magi, Talan and Lightning are Crazy Awesome in the form of a cute couple.

** Xavier and Simon get in some flirty remarks with each other when the latter is briefly gender-flipped in the Mad Science class.
** Even if they're not romancing each other, Corvus and Swilium have affectionate nicknames for each other and get in some playful flirting.
* [[HoYay Les Yay]]: Arielle and Victoria, especially when they're seen (very adorkably) dancing together during the school dance.
* MagnificentBastard: Alexei, as the leader of Equinox.
** Swilium is one of the world's most efficient thieves, and does so without ever taking a life.

* MoralEventHorizon: If he hadn't already crossed it before, Jonathan's Moral Event Horizon came when he ordered his guards to..."unwind" with their prisoners (including Sam at the time).

* CreepyAwesome: Vladimir, at times.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Lightning was originally little more than a throwaway genderflip of one of Zeitgeist's older characters (Electron, later seen in the short-lived Rule 63 thread). And then her CharacterDevelopment, coupled with her [[GenkiGirl cutesy, hyperactive and cheerful personality,]] ended up making her a beloved character among the users.

** [[CorruptCorporateExecutive Wardson]] [[CastingAShadow Hardgreaves]], for destroying Jackal's hometown in a fight with James, killing the former's parents in the process. And if the Shadow Court's plans are any indication, he has no intention to stop such acts. However, [[WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity his insanity]] calls into question [[ObliviouslyEvil just how in control of his actions he really is.]]
*** His son Warpen is no better. Not only is he the host for [[EldritchAbomination the Shadow Daemon Lord]], during ''Global Civil War'' he commits atrocities such as destroying Fogron's hometown.

** It was debatable before, but Dahlia certainly becomes one upon accidentally being burned and scarred by Fury.

She does, however, show signs of vulnerability after her fight with Chrys and the resulting HeroicBSOD--having gone through immense physical and emotional pain, torn over a SadisticChoice, and letting tears fall despite efforts to avoid it. Atiago responds with a CooldownHug. She quickly forces herself to recover, not wanting to appear weak.

*** Fury, given his DarkAndTroubledPast, qualifies as well, especially when he shows his sensitive side around Dahlia.
*** Blaze and Hydro have trouble showing their pain, coming from (and rejected by) [[CloningBlues the same project]] [[ReplacementGoldfish that created Lightning.]]
** StoicWoobie: El Terre, considering all that he and his family went through over the years. His father is unreliable, his stepfathers are among [[CompleteMonster the most vile villains on the forum]], his little sister is dying, and his other siblings are distant, if not hostile. It's only around Alice that he lets his pain really show through.
*** James is ''the'' biggest example of the StoicWoobie in the forum. Power Academy is his life's work, and he fears he will have nowhere to go if it fails--and it's already in danger of failing. It's not until he opens up to Lily that his inner turmoil is made apparent. His [[RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil unpleasant past with Jane]] only increases the woobie factor. And now his life is on the line thanks to a DealWithTheDevil he made to get the school built on time.

** Considering her very {{Moe}} behavior, it can be questioned whether Eve specifically modified Lightning's behavior [[ReplacementGoldfish to replicate her deceased daughter]], or if she was just always very cutesy, cheerful and energetic. The latter even has a HeroicBSOD when considering the former possibility.

** At one point during a truth or dare game, Talan dares Hydro to kiss Blaze--and she goes through with it. The latter [[FreudianSlip mistakenly admits]] that Hydro is a great kisser.

** In the Zombies thread, though it's only an offhand comment, Garrett mentions that Vladimir led a cyborg army on a bloody rampage through the town. Vladimir also veers close to this in the main story by offering to convert Trigan to a cyborg--[[NothingIsScarier among his many other past atrocities that are alluded to.]]

** Jane drugged and raped James to have his child, only to isolate herself from him and later tell him that Jackson was stillborn.

** If he hadn't already crossed it before, Jonathan's Moral Event Horizon came when he ordered his guards to..."unwind" with their prisoners (including Sam at the time).

* EvilIsCool: Especially with AffablyEvil in full play for many of the villain characters.
** DracoInLeatherPants: Swilium can be interpreted as such, depending on how villainous he's acting.

* TheScrappy: Ewan, for being a [[FlatCharacter flat]], cliched NinetiesAntihero. Originally, [[{{Irony}} this was the point]] [[InvokedTrope as he was intended as a deconstruction.]]

* AngstWhatAngst: [[PlayingWithATrope Played with]]. James and Sam, both rape victims, are still affected by their traumatic experiences, and they end up discussing them with their close friends, but are still relatively stable (at least, the latter is) or at least appear to be.

** Helena, easily. If her MoralEventHorizon below isn't enough, she seems completely fixated on killing not only Talan and Swilium, but also their new girlfriends--and holds not a hint of remorse about it.
** Multiple examples in the Mirrorverse; the evil versions of [[ReligionOfEvil James]], [[TheDarkSideWillMakeYouForget Simon]], [[AxCrazy Lightning]], [[SuperHumanTrafficking Valerie]], [[ColdBloodedTorture Sam]], and [[TheEvilsOfFreeWill Alexei]] stand out. The main heroic versions are generally [[EvilMeScaresMe frightened]] by their evil selves.

* EvilIsSexy: Both the male ([[TroubledButCute Swilium]], [[WalkingShirtlessScene Kuri]], [[RatedMForManly Alexei]]) and female ([[HotWitch Trim]], [[TheLadette Selene]], Willow's SuperpoweredEvilSide) varieties can be seen.
