* RonTheDeathEater: The Sensational Sisters. Besides the AdaptationalVillainy covered in the main page, there's the fact that they don't have any positive traits, and their negative ones from canon get blown out of proportion; while they were hinted not to be very strong leaders in the anime, they're absolutely abysmal here; while they aren't exactly smart in canon, here the three of them are [[TheDitz rather dumb]]; while they were {{graceful loser}}s in the anime, they're {{sore loser}}s here; while in canon they're naturally beautiful, here their beauty is hinted to be the result of a lot of plastic surgery; and lastly, ''absolutely nobody'' seems to like them. You can't help but wonder if CPL has some sort of beef against them...

** Chapter 30 is one for the handling of the Cerulean Sisters: several commentators found their treatment by the author to be unusually harsh for the fic, which generally avoids nearing bashing territories for characters a lot more maligned than they are. Many were pleasantly surprised to see the Eevee brothers, who are similar to the sisters in canon behavior, treated not only well, but made more sympathetic than their canon selves, up to and including their treatment of Mikey and their reasons for being pushy about evolution.
** The same chapter also has one for the fic's tendency to slip too long: the Author noted this and split the chapter in progress up early as to prevent another long gap while the chapter was made after the author noted it was getting notably long due to the Eevee Bros. adaption. Chapters have from that point moved to a once a month schedule, with slips at the end of 2018 only due to story development issues and personal issues.
** Erika Interlude was criticized for not really being about its title character. Viroro-kun has plans to make an Erika Interlude II that focuses more on her.
** As per the authors' notes in the first chapter of Katie Gaiden, the original result of the match (namely of Katie losing to Rubrum) was changed since the authors took notice that [[spoiler:the Ash-siblings]] were having few on-screen losses (most of their defeats happening either off-screen or to each other).

** Is the Rookie Crusher really the asshole he seems like? Or is it all just an act he puts on for whatever reason? If the latter, why? Is he trying to give tournament audiences someone to root against? Or is he trying to determine which rookies are truly able to withstand adversity? And if it is or was an act, did he get LostInCharacter at some point and become the sadistic prick he was originally just pretending to be?
** Was Joe's underperformance at Pokemon Tech due to being mistreated by his classmates, or was he picked on by his classmates because he was already doing badly? Or was it a vicious cycle of him being bullied for failing to improve and failing to improve because he was bullied? He apparently does better when he switches to gym challenges, but is that because he doesn't have his toxic classmates dragging him down anymore? Because traveling forced him to rely on himself and improve? Or because the gym challenge approach suits him better than classroom learning?

** Is Dexter capable of emotions, or is it just able to fake them if it thinks that will get people to do what it believes would help it fulfill its programming? The fact that it makes Paul's PokeDex talk like a ValleyGirl for apparently no reason beyond finding it funny suggests it might be the former.

** Though nobody doubts that Belladonna's murderous anger at Tokiomi Borealis for how he treated Aurora is genuine, some readers have speculated that there might be another, underlying reason for it besides "you hurt my girlfriend". Like Aurora, Belladonna was disowned (albeit for being a lesbian rather than a bloodliner), and since Dexter confirms her mother's alive in prison, she either never got the chance to take revenge or couldn't bring herself to do so against the woman who gave birth to her. It's possible that she's projecting her unresolved issues with her mother onto Tokiomi, intensifying her anger at him.
** Is the Rookie Crusher really the asshole he seems like? Or is it all just an act he puts on for whatever reason?

** The main fic's tendency to scene jump and show multiple different events and characters than the main narrative of Ash. Is this annoying and distracting from the story overall that should relegate the things to the tie in oneshots, or is it a necessary evil to ensure world building and minimizing ContinuityLockout? There is also a disconnect between readers, Cross, and the other authors on what such scenes are necessary to be present and which are not.

** What's the real reason behind Misty's older sisters hatred for her? Do they just fall into plain FantasticRacism out of fear like most everyone else, or are they actually ''[[GreenEyedMonster jealous]]'' because their younger sister has something that sets her apart and makes her "special" compared to them?

** Fans who disliked Iris' anime incarnation enjoy the way the story ended up handling her, which emphasizes her wild child side and deemphasizes her tsundere traits, giving her a unique flavor instead of making her come off as a Misty clone. The author said it was intentional.

** While Erika's ban on male trainers wasn't depicted as being right, it was portrayed as a case of her finally putting her foot down after repeated frustrations, with the DirtyOldMan incident being the last straw. However, at the end of the day, she was still banning an entire gender from her gym based on the actions of one [[ThePeepingTom peeping tom]] who wasn't even a challenger, so many readers viewed her in a much more negative light than Cross intended her to be seen. Thankfully, [[AuthorsSavingThrow this was addressed]] [[RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap and corrected]] in later chapters.

* WereStillRelevantDammit: The author has a tendency to always include whatever new elements the anime or the games introduce (especially when a new generation debuts) regardless of how little sense it makes or how well it meshes with the current story , which many times feels shoehorned, such as the barrage of ''Sun and Moon'' elements introduced during the chapters that take place in Fuchsia and Saffron (such as an Alolan trainer in the Fuchsia Tag Team Tournament; frequent POV switches to Alolan characters, many irrelevant to the current story; Ash getting a Z-Ring and Z-crystals) as well as quite a lot of ''Sword and Shield'' elements during a couple Pokemon League chapters (a game stand involving Sinisteas; a curry eating competition hosted by Macro Cosmos).

** While it's undeniable that Charmander's pride and desire to regain what he lost motivates him to train, whether that's the only factor is unclear. As his Gaiden reveals, he was unable to defend himself or Kaia from the hyper-aggressive Spearow and Fearow flock - with horrible results. Maybe he also wants to make sure that he's strong enough to prevent something so terrible from happening again.

** Fans who disliked Iris' anime incarnation enjoy the way the story ended up handling her, which emphasizes her wild child side and deemphasizes her tsundere traits. The author said it was intentional.

** In the main story, Joshua wasn't that well-liked since he was a fairly one note, obnoxious HateSink whose placement in the Indigo League felt redundant since Ash fights him not long after the Rookie Crusher, a fellow one note HateSink. But some fans came around to him in the Indigo League interlude, where his interactions with Ritchie hint at some HiddenDepths due to him genuinely supporting him in his own jerkish way.

* {{Squick}}: The TR Trio offering Giovanni Damian's (used) penis ring. One can only hope they washed it thoroughly...
** Jessie's claims of being a lustful voyeur towards Ash in chapter 33. Thankfully it's strongly implied by Anabel she's mostly putting on an act to rile up her, Misty and Iris, but it's still a bit uncomfortable to listen to considering the age difference between the two.

* HilariousInHindsight:
** Red's Pikachu was shown using Thunderpunch as part of a way to make him stand out for Ash's Pikachu and other Pikachu in the series. In XY&Z, a Character of the Day named Jimmy used a Pikachu with Thunderpunch.
** Due to not being announced at the time, the in universe Trainer Nations did not include Alola. This potential plothole was solved by the announcement of Alola having a system very different from gyms. It was also revealed that Alola didn't have an official league established before the game's/anime's plot.
** A silent Red with a Pikachu did eventually appear in the Anime, ''WebAnimation/PokemonGenerations'' anyway, a while after he appeared in Reset.
** This fic predates [[VideoGame/PokemonSunAndMoon Sun and Moon]], where [[spoiler:a Frontier brain is able to use Mega Evolution]].
** Related to ''Sun and Moon'', the description of Arceus' palace in the very first chapter makes multiple references to the past generations of the games. However, there's this specific line: "The lights came out in a huge set of flashes that hurt like a Pokémon's electric attack in brightly lit explosions, so Ash had to close his eyes, and only open them when the light seemed to have vanished and did not blaze as harshly as a sun, instead with the gentleness of a moon", that unknowingly seemed to foreshadow the next one.
** A [[DeadpanSnarker sarcastic]] Pokédex would later appear in Sun and Moon, albeit as a result of Rotom possession.
** The fact that the final girl in the series harem [[spoiler:was featured in the Alola games]] was completely unintentional, as the author mentions the chapter was in writing for long before that was revealed.
** Reset's Chapter 26 mentioned Gladion when it went live in April 2017. A month later in May 2017, Gladion made his debut in the SM anime.
** The Oak's Summer Camp Gaiden showed that Ash is a good baseball player like in some early materials by Shudo. Episode 28 of the Sun & Moon Anime showed Ash being quite passionate for a Pokémon variation of baseball.
** Red is implied to be pretty built, considering he strongly resembles Ash, who is hinted to be noticeably muscular. A similarly buff Red would later show up in the Alola games.
** Like in Reset (and the Games), Kiawe would obtain a Alolan Marowak. 2 of the moves used by the anime version are even the same: Shadow Bone and Flame Wheel.
** After Misty obtained a Keystone in fic during the Battle Dome tournament, her anime counterpart would get one by the time of the SM Anime.
*** Ash himself would get one too during the ''Journeys'' anime's second season.
** Kiawe's opponent removing their shirt mid battle occured in Reset's Kiawe Interlude a while before Brock would do the same thing. Wait for subs if he declared Kiawe a worthy opponent who must be fought as an equal before stripping however.
*** And then some: in a later episode, his opponent [[spoiler:(a Buzzwole)]] engages in some muscle flexing, and Kiawe responds in the same fashion.
** Not long after reccing the fic at the start of Chapter 27, ''Fanfic/AProfessorAndAStudent'' got a TV Tropes page.
** After a few mentions in the Resetverse of people trying to do more than a single Z-Move in a battle, Ultra Sun and Moon would allow the player to do so via the Rotomdex.
** Also from the same game, the scene of Guzma engaging Team Rainbow Rocket Grunts follows Guzma's oneshot where he fought another evil team: Team Cipher.
** In the Falkner Gaiden, Falkner acquires a Rainbow Wing to track Ho-Oh, and battles it at the top of a mountain. A few months later, ''Anime/PokemonIChooseYou'' would be released, in which Ash gets a Rainbow Wing which he uses to track Ho-Oh and fights it at the top of a mountain.
** Cross is mentioned to be a fan of WebVideo/{{Gnoggin}}, who later gave his own video similar to the idea Cross put forth in Chapter 29 about 'Extant Forms' of Fossils (Though the two did not come to similar typing conclusions for them).
** Professor Oak's friend, Doctor Boxer, invents a device capable of shrinking objects to store them in a small space. In the Sun & Moon anime [[spoiler:Faba]] of all people, invents a machine for that same purpose.
** The Akala Island Adventures story's first chapter revealed that Frax and Velvet's shared Technique Bloodline is Tail Whip, as a reference to the few times Sun & Moon Ash helped out his Pokémon learning new techniques by wagging his behind. In the Pikachu Valley episode, Ash does actually get a fake tail to wag for a bit.
** Per ''VideoGame/PokemonLetsGoPikachuAndLetsGoEevee'', it turns out that rain isn't as much a problem for Butterfree as Erika's strategy made it out to be.
** Similarly the bag based Pokemon box feature in the Let's Go games is fairly similar to how trainers like Red retain their Pokemon without a place like Oak's ranch.
** One of the never-finished oneshots involved the canon Sun and Moon Ash going to the BadFuture of Reset. Then the 100th episode of said Ash's series had him going to an alternate universe styled after a BadFuture.
** Pikachu uses a Quick Attack/Iron Tail combo to defeat Lilo's Mudsdale in the Fuchsia Tag Tournament. In SM 104, Pikachu uses the same combo against Hapu's Golurk, though unlike the previous case it doesn't work and he loses. For added hilarity, both Lilo's Mudsdale and Hapu's Golurk can use High Horsepower, which was a key move in the battle in Reset.
** The first chapter of the ''Mewtwo Strikes Back'' adaptation was published exactly the same day the first proper trailer of [[Anime/MewtwoStrikesBackEvolution said movie's CGI remake]] was released.
** A biker briefly mentions "the Limeys" in the Kiawe Interlude. Years later, there'd be [[VideoGame/PokemonSwordAndShield a Pokémon region based on England]].
** In the 2016 Holiday Special, Olympia has a prophetic vision involving a (symbolic) sword and shield. Lo and behold, Creator/GameFreak later went on to announce ''VideoGame/PokemonSwordAndShield''.
** Ash's first battle with a Golisopod went about as well in both Reset and the anime: both Golisopod even managed to take a Z-move without any problem.
** Trainer trading cards became a thing in Sword and Shield after having been mentioned a few times in Reset in passing.
** The idea of there being gyms of all types was a thing in Reset long before Sword and Shield brought them in lore wise, with there being eight higher ranked (and thus the ones you battle) than the other ten.
** Reset Misty's goal differs from her canon counterpart by focusing on wanting to catch one of every Water-type Pokémon in the world, something that involves her catching several Pokémon in incidental ways and with Professor Oak allowing her to keep her captures in his ranch. Years later, Ash's companion Goh from ''Journeys'' ended up having a goal to catch every single Pokémon species in the world through very similar means, down to a Professor offering a place for him to hold his captures in.
** Still from the ''Journeys'' anime, the Team Rocket trio ended up in possession of a black Pokédex with a very sarcastic and unhelpful demeanor, very reminiscent of this story's Dexter.
** The Cynthia Gaiden showed that Celestic Town was a dying, rundown town in Cynthia's youth, only regaining its prestige once she decided to become Champion of the region thinking it would help. In [[VideoGame/PokemonSwordAndShield the Galar games]], [[spoiler:Marnie had the exact same idea, though it didn't work as well for her]].
** Lucario officially enters Ash's ownership after the Mewtwo arc. A few months later, the latest trailer for the Pokémon Journeys anime hinted that Ash would get a Riolu, which was eventually confirmed in episode 22.
*** Adding to this, a new teaser for the ''Journeys'' anime confirms that Ash's Riolu will fight Mewtwo after evolving, just like Sir Aaron's Lucario did in Reset.
** Ash catches a Farfetch'd with a peculiar fighting style ([[DualWielding wielding]] [[CutlassBetweenTheTeeth three leeks]] at once). In the Pokémon Journeys anime, Ash catches a ''Galarian'' Farfetch'd with a different battle style than the average Farfetch'd (via a larger leak and different typing).
** Goh's affectionate Raichu with a crush towards Pikachu is cute, but a Raichu with a crush on Pikachu was done in Reset before that episode by a while.
** In the Sho Interlude, Sho defeats Volkner's Electivire using electric attacks to overwhelm the Motor Drive ability. In the Journeys anime, Ash and Pikachu do a similar feat, using the 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt.
** The overall concept of humans who are able to use Pokémon powers and abilities takes a complete new turn with [[spoiler:Koko doing ''exactly'' that in his movie]].
** A few jokes are made about how May seemingly aged backwards between the ''Advance Generation'' and ''Diamond and Pearl'' series. In the ''Journeys'' anime, turns out that Dialga and Palkia actually ''make'' the characters (humans and mons) age backwards (albeit only temporarily).
** The character Vermell is implied to hail from the Pokémon World's equivalent of Catalonia, an autonomous community of Spain. The region for the upcoming ninth Generation games is confirmed to be based on the Iberian Peninsula, most of which is part of Spain and Portugal.
** In Chapter 31, Iris somehow ends up wearing her ''Black 2''/''White 2'' Champion outfit during a outfit shopping montage, with her saying she doesn't want to keep it. However ''Journeys'' revealed her to have become Unova's new champion, complete with the same outfit.
