- Epileptic Trees: Due to the initial teaser showing an "urban redevelopment plan" for Lumiose City and the city seemingly appearing more advanced compared to the original X and Y, many have started theorizing that Z-A could take place in the future rather than the past in contrast to Arceus. Some have even suggested that the game being set entirely in Lumiose City could be a case of Exact Words, with it possibly taking place at a time when it has grown to encompass the entire Kalos region.
