  • Fan Nickname: It's common to see the ship steward that tries to escort Noodle to safety at the start of the "On Melancholy Hill" video get referred to as "Lifebewtz Guy" or even just "Lifebewtz," for obvious reasons.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: The lyric "The sea is radioactive" from "Superfast Jellyfish" became a lot harsher in the wake of the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, in which the Fukushima nuclear power plant suffered a partial meltdown, sparking fears that the entire sea could be irradiated by waste leaking out of it.note
  • Vindicated by History: Today Plastic Beach is often considered the band's magnum opus, sitting alongside Demon Days as their best work to date. What many may not know is that when it first released, fan opinions on the album were divisive. While not hated, many found it to be inferior to the previous two albums, lacking a radio-hit like Feel Good Inc. or Clint Eastwood, and it's experimental nature versus the alternative hip hop the band was known for up to that point. However, over the years fans grew fond of the emotional tone of the album and powerful message on environmentalism.
