- Broken Base:
- Penny's and Aggie's First Kiss. While many fans welcomed it, others disliked it.
- Stan's continued exclusion from Penny's and Aggie's group of friends. Some readers feel it was justified, whereas others agree with Lisa that it was a disproportionate reaction to Stan choosing election victory over Brandi and that it was inconsistent in light of the additional chances Penny and Aggie extended to others.
- Hollywood Pudgy: Michelle's view of Britney Spears (she even hyperbolically pictures her as a morbidly obese couch potato) and, judging from their disgusted reaction, that of Katy-Ann, Sara and Brandi.
- This is a case of Harsher in Hindsight, since stories of the mistreatment Spears endured under father's conservatorship – including body-shaming – have made her a more sympathetic figure since the comic ended. It's especially ironic considering Michelle has suffered from body image issues.
- Teasing Creator: Campbell both amused and infuriated "Agenny" (Penny/Aggie) shippers by juxtaposing the characters' First Kiss with Nick's observation that soap bubbles remain separate, self-enclosed entities even as they join and that "contents may settle during shipping," and most of all with a final panel showing front and centre in Nick's class...Aggie's first crush, Marshall. The latter proved to be a Red Herring, as Aggie in fact continues not to have any contact with Marshall for the remainder of the series.
