YMMV / Origin of a Non-Hero

• Fridge Horror: After the revelation that giving One For All to someone with a Quirk severely cuts down on that individual's life and prevents them from using it at full power, it's probably for the best that Izuku never gave Shikinori his Quirk.
• Heartwarming Moments:
  • As tragic as the state of the Midoriya family is, Ochaco was able to achieve her dream of using her hero career to provide for her parents.
  • Bakugo and Kirishima ended up adopting a son together and became Good Parents to the boy.
  • Shoto "Ice Razer" Todoroki proves that he's a better person than his father(and, unfortunately, Izuku) is by abandoning his quest to be #1 hero to be there for his family, and being a good, if embarrassing, father to his and Momo's daughter.
• Tear Jerker: Basically the entire fic, but some moments stand out.
  • Izuku and Ochaco ending up divorcing. Canon doesn't shy away from how hero work can be difficult on families, but it's still sad to see two successful heroes who love each other being unable to work things out.
  • After Shikinori has a good time in college, away from his broken family, he ends up failing to get a job and moving back home, thus resulting in his father offering to give him a job at his agency, resulting in him once again being forced to confront his problems. It's painfully easy to relate to for college graduates who have struggled with getting work in their career field of choice.
  • The rather depressing summary of where the cast will end up when all is said and done.
    The wind picked up to a howl, and it swept into shore, and it drowned Izuku’s cries beneath it.
