YMMV / Onimusha 3: Demon Siege

Go To

  • Anticlimax Boss: Guildenstern. He was never made out to be a fighter (he is a scientist, after all), but his boss fight is still pretty easy even for that.
  • Hype Backlash: While Demon Siege is praised for improving the gameplay and finishing the Nobunaga trilogy, producer Keiji Inafune himself noted that several fans were disappointed by how its story did not feel like a samurai tale which resulted in Dawn of Dreams removing its modern atmosphere.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: Hacking and slashing demons that invaded modern day? That's par on the course. The chance to play as someone who looks like Jean Reno? Hell yes.
  • Moral Event Horizon:
    • Ranmaru jumps the line when he kills little Henri for no reason.
    • Destroying the beautiful Mont Saint-Michel, along with all its imprsoned monks and pilgrims with your flying castle is bad enough, Vega Donna. But then you decide to use your BFG to wipe out the crumbling remains and any survivors? It's on.
  • Nightmare Fuel: The demon invasions of the previous games were violent and chaotic, but have nothing on the invasion of Paris as people are cut down in a genuine horror-style vibe of Hell on Earth. It's messy enough to be considered Bloodier and Gorier for a series that was already pretty violent.
  • The Scrappy: Jacques' son Henri is often regarded as this.
  • Sequel Difficulty Spike: Issen was nerfed, and thus is much more difficult to spam. To the point that even completing the multi-Critical Hit tutorial is considered the trickiest part of the entire saga.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Samanosuke really feels like an add-on compared to Jacques. If he didn't have to fight Nobunaga by game's end, you could take him and his segments out of the game and lose next to nothing plot wise.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Samanosuke's character feels quite boring in comparison to Jacques'. He doesn't go through any sort of Character Development or thoughts about the past. For example, his rivalry with Nobunaga, relationship with the Oni, or his feelings regarding Kaede's fate are never explored. Instead, the plot focuses on more Henri's complicated relationship with Michelle while Samanosuke barely speaks.
