- Alternate Character Interpretation: Is the cruel behavior of the tenants towards Kohei motivated solely by prejudice against his disability and/or him being on welfare, or is it at least partially a reaction to him being an actual stalker? In Japanese discussions of Kohei it is often pointed out that for someone as isolated as him he seems to know quite a bit more about the other tenants than is normal in a rental apartment complex. Conversely, it is possible to speculate that Kohei himself saw his behavior as genuine attempts to reach out to people and did not realize where he may have overstepped other people's boundaries due to not understanding social conventions.
