  • Angst? What Angst?: Kaya in regard of the only secret Usopp had kept from her. Upon learning the true identity and intentions of her butler Klahadore, she's not heartbroken but pissed - due to her stronger personality in this timeline, she saw him as stingy and bossy rather than fatherly, never liking him firsthand.
  • Broken Base: Zoro killing Mihawk after their duel. Readers were divided on killing off such a great character or resigned to knowing it was inevitable due to the characters' sense of honor. The author says he was going for an air of Japanese ritual killing.
  • Fanon: Although off-handedly, sometimes the author mentions elements that while never explicitly explained in-canon, have been taken more-or-less for granted by fans. One is when Whitebeard is introduced, and "diluted giant blood that's common in the Grand Line" is mentioned as the cause for his massive size despite technically still being a human. Another is when Luffy and Zoro discuss of Nami's fearsome punches, stating that they are imbued with Haki with her not even realizing. There's also that Dragon's powers are believed to be from eating a Mythical Zoan based on his own namesake, Luffy tries to confirm this from him, but Dragon had left before Luffy could ask.
  • Fridge Horror: In-story. In Chapter 7, while en route to Arlong Park, both Usopp and Luffy confess having thought about Brook: after 50 years of solitude, his happy time with the Strawhats amounted to a couple months at best, with even the two years of forced separation inbetween. They are afraid that, after being sent back in time to his ship, he may have thought of all as a dream, and snapped completely. But when they reach Twin Peaks...
  • Harsher in Hindsight: In this story, there are mentions of large individuals like Whitebeard who possessed "diluted giant blood that's common in the Grand Line" with their massive strength and size despite technically still being humans. In One Piece canon, it is revealed that there is a race of humans with the blood of Giants called Buccaneers and Bartholomew Kuma is the Last of His Kind as they were hunted down, enslaved or killed for committing a "grave crime" against the World Government centuries ago.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Chapter One has Luffy, after deciding to expand his crew beyond the original ten in this new timeline, muse over the idea of a full-fledged armada. This chapter was posted a little over a full year before the release of Chapter 800, in which Luffy receives the Straw Hat Grand Fleet (comprised of several crews worth of fighters from the Dressrosa Coliseum). What makes it even more funny, however, is that Canon!Luffy did not want to be the boss of the Grand Fleet (also called the Straw Hat Armada by some fans) and refused to drink the ceremonial sake enforcing such an alliance.
Chapter One: Hmm, the Straw Hat Armada. That had a real nice ring to it. Luffy imagined himself standing on the head of a Sunny ten times bigger than usual, surrounded by other ships, all of them also having the Straw Hat symbol. He grinned wide. That would be so cool!
