  • Adaptation Displacement: The comic didn't enjoy widespread popularity outside of France until the film caught everyone's attention.
  • Awesome Music: The film has one hell of a killer soundtrack. Simon Delacroix (a.k.a. the Toxic Avenger) definitely brought his A game.
    • Palm Hill Rules. An amazing track to properly introduce the audience to Palm Hills. The City of Bangers indeed. The remix played in the gunfight between Mr.K's henchmen and the Grapz is just as good.
  • Complete Monster: Bruce Macchabée is a human sociopath working for the Macho aliens as their top hitman. Having murdered Angelino's mother in the past, Bruce obeys the orders from Mr. K by indulging in extreme violence, apathetic to any sort of collateral damage—best exemplified when Bruce turned the entire neighborhood of Palm Hills into a warzone in his attempts to capture Angelino. Not even his own allies are safe from him, as Bruce tries to kill Mr. K's daughter for standing up to him.
  • Critical Dissonance: The Film has a mixed to negative reception with critics, with a 39% on Rotten Tomatoes, while it has an 80% with audiences.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Out of all the characters, it's safe to say Shakespeare and scenes involving him are the most memorable. In the English version, the fact that he's voiced by the RZA makes him even more memorable in the USA.
  • Ho Yay: A lot of it between Vinz and Angelino. Vinz sticks by Lino through everything and when Mr. K pushes Angelino to embrace his darker urges it's ultimately Vinz, rather than Angelino's love interest, that reminds him of his humanity and brings him back from the brink.
