- Adaptation Displacement: The most famous version of the tale isn't the original. In the original version of Momotaro, instead of Momotaro himself coming out of the giant peach, the old couple eats it and they become young again. They have sex and they end up having a son, naming him "Taro."
- Alternative Character Interpretation: A revisionist reading of the story depicts Momotaro as a robber and a conqueror killing and harming non-humans who didn't even do anything to him or his country, since the Oni's robbing and plundering are only relegated to Offstage Villainy and is only an Informed Attribute at worst, and they never did anything to antagonize anyone who didn't attack them in the story proper.
