  • Harsher in Hindsight: "Race To The Future" has Team Leader cheat in a race for environmentally-friendly vehicles with a car that can switch between ethanol and polluting high-octane gasoline while no one is looking. This is quite reminiscent of the infamous "Dieselgate" scandal in 2015, where Volkswagen diesel cars were found to have a "cheat device" that would turn on emissions controls when the car was on rollers for standardized emissions tests and would turn them off once the car was on the actual road (since leaving them on would damage the engine and make maintenance prohibitively expensive). And in issue 67 of the comics (And the live-action film) Team Vaillante's #2 car wins the 24 hours of Le Mans after one of Team Leader's cars breaks down on the last lap. Cue the 2016 24 hours of le mans where Porsche won after the leading Toyota broke down on the last lap.
