• Catharsis Factor: Mike wiping out the white supremacist gang after what they had done to Iris is immensely satisfying.
• Critical Dissonance: The first season received a 35% approval rating from critics but a 90% approval rating from audiences. The second saw an improvement with a 50% rating from critics and a 93% rating from audiences.
• Magnificent Bastard: P-Dog is a prisoner charged with attempted murder who becomes the leader of the Crips inside Kingstown prison. Leveraging a deal with the prison guards, P-Dog arranges for child-murderer Kenny Miles to be killed on the condition that they lift the lockdown on the prisoners. Still suffering mistreatment from the prison guards, P-Dog orchestrates a prison takeover by having his men give him a shiv to stab a guard before subduing the personnel transferring him, while freeing all the inmates from their cells and killing countless more guards. Holding the surviving guards hostage, P-Dog has them systematically killed until the National Guard shoots him, dying content that he gets to go out on his own terms.
• Moment of Awesome: After a white supremacist gang spends a couple of episodes thoroughly abusing and turning Iris into a Broken Bird, Mike saves her and wipes them out single-handedly by driving to their den and killing all the members he could find. He catches them so off-guard that they do not even get a shot in.
• WTH, Costuming Department?: Captain Walter's uniform is all over the place, featuring captain's bars, corporal's stripes, a colonel's eagle, and chief's stars.
