  • Alternate Character Interpretation:
    • Kalani's spirit appears separate from the wolf at the beginning to task her with guiding the spirit, who most of the time refers to her as "wolf" and Kalani was allowed into the City of Light the entire time. Is the wolf actually Kalani's reincarnation, an ordinary wolf, or something in between?
    • While Kalani's quest for revenge was incredibly destructive, was fighting against an unjust government really enough to prevent her from reaching the afterlife? Her Redemption Quest in the second half of the game to open her father's eyes ultimately allows her entry to the City of Light, but that doesn't really seem to make up for burning down an entire city.
  • Awesome Music: The entire OST conveys the beauty of the game world, but the trailer music, "Come Back Home" by Maisy Kay, truly stands out.
    • "Your Light" by Will Morton that plays during the flight of the condor is also a delightful experience.
    • "All That You Are" is another beautiful track that plays over the credits.
  • Breather Level: After an emotional sequence where the wolf and spirit go through some relationship problems after reliving the destruction of Quilotasi, the player is treated to a water slide sequence as a mudskipper and gets to play in a field filled with fireflies.
  • Heartwarming Moments:
    • Despite the trials their relationship goes through, the spirit continues to help the wolf and expresses wonder at the world they explore together.
    • After the City of Light seemingly disappears before the two at the end of the game, the spirit breaks down and admits his faults, declaring that even if he didn't earn redemption, at least he has the wolf as a friend. That's enough to earn Kalani's forgiveness and allow his entry to the true City of Light.
  • Tearjerker:
    • Weyla's death at the orders of Kalani's father at the beginning of the game breaks Kalani and sends her on a dark path.
    • When it is revealed that Kalani was responsible for the destruction of Quilotasi, the spirit declares that This Is Unforgivable! and seemingly abandons the wolf, even taking away her spirit wandering abilities. All the wolf can do is curl up to sleep until the spirit decides to give her a second chance.
      • Kalani herself, conveyed entirely through music and body language, realizes that her revolution only led to the deaths of more innocents like Weyla and drops her banner in horror at what she had done.
    • The spirit gets a bit of turnabout when he learns he is Atevo and killed his daughter Kalani. The wolf gives him the cold shoulder and you can tell through his voice that he got hit with a ton of bricks. Atevo himself was also devastated by killing his daughter and gives her the best Yanren funeral he could give.
