A flamebait trope.

* WhatAnIdiot: Hock, the world's worst bodyguard. The entire plot is kicked off because he sneaks his sidearm into the prison even after being told to surrender all of his weapons due to the danger of the criminals housed there getting their hands on them. Guess what happens almost immediately.

* SpiritualSuccessor: As noted by ''Webvideo/GoodBadFlicks'', this movie may be the closest we'll get to a sequel to ''Film/EscapeFromNewYork'' and ''Film/EscapeFromLA''
** Creator/JohnCarpenter agreed, to the extent he sued for plagiarism. Then the court agreed also.

* SpecialEffectFailure: The entire cycle chase scene is pretty bad, using obvious CG with terrible animation. The scene only serves to get Snow from the apartment to the train station quickly and they obviously wanted to avoid the budget costs of a real chase scene. In the film's defense its relatively modest budget of 20 million is utilized much better in the rest of the film.

an animation YMMV trope

* ConspicuousCG: The chase for Snow at the beginning. It's almost amusingly obvious.
