• Overshadowed by Controversy: In June 2020, the George Floyd/Black Lives Matter protests made many shows regarding police - ranging from wholeheartedly pro-police shows like this one to even shows that didn't try to be pro-police - feel like they were airing too soon — COPS was also canceled around this time. Worse, it was also revealed that the producers of Live PD had footage of the police tasering a man to death at a traffic stop, when all the suspect allegedly did wrong was driving with a broken headlight. The man's family tried to get the show to give them the footage in their wrongful death lawsuit against the Austin, TX PD, only to find out that the raw, unused footage was wiped at the officers' request (the Sheriff involved in that case was later indicted for tampering with the evidence). These three factors led to Live PD being pulled from the air.
