When the ARK first returns to Earth, Nia breaks the coalition by allying with Mount Weather, sacrificing the people of Skaikru and her own followers. When her crimes exposed, Nia plans a war against the other clans; allies with Diana Sydney to launch a nuke powerful enough to wipe out a country; allows the enslavement of her people; tortures Gustus and Titus, the latter to near-death; and plans to repeat what she's done to Costia with Clarke, sending Lexa a lock of Costia's hair. When Clarke escapes, Nia has her villages raided and burned to search for her. Later, she keeps all food rations to herself to fortify her hideout, condemning her kingdom to starvation, and when forced into a final confrontation with Clarke and Lexa, Nia attempts to kill them slowly.
