• Alternative Character Interpretation: Is Ash actually sending letters to his father or talking to himself?
• Harsher in Hindsight: Takeshi Shudo, the anime's original showrunner, had once claimed that he always envisioned Ash's father as a full-on Deadbeat Dad who abandoned Delia after getting her pregnant at 18 and ended up a washed up loser. Knowing this makes the comic ten times more tragic.
