• Moral Event Horizon: The mother crosses when she forces her son to help her get rid of her husband's corpse and then uses him as bait to lure the husband's mistress up to her apartment so she can kill her too. There are also some implications that she killed another one of her neighbors.
• Nightmare Fuel: Most of the neighbors are creepy at best and highly disturbing at worst. Some of them have monstrous appearances that can worsen the longer you talk to them. Not helping is the way some of them bend down to get all up in the protagonist's face, giving you an even better look at their unnerving facial features and expressions.
• The Woobie: The boy is regularly bullied at school and is implied to not have the best home-life, with his father cheating on his mother and his mother being an at best pushy and uncaring parent. He lives in an apartment building full of creeps whom he is forced to talk to by his mother, one of which can even sexually assault him if the player makes the wrong choice and several others will kill him without flinching. The game also consists of him being used to get rid of his father's remains without knowing and being put directly in harm's way because of this.
