YMMV / Law & Order S9 E9 "True North"

• Alternate Character Interpretation: Was a teenage Stephanie cruelly abandoned by her rich boyfriend and essentially forced to have an abortion when she realized she had no way to provide for a child, or did the boy in question realize that she was only after his money and wisely extricate himself from the situation before he got caught in The Baby Trap?
• Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Stephanie Harker is given a supposedly tragic backstory that includes being impregnated and dumped by a rich boy while in high school. He's made out to be a jerk who was just using her, but as stated in the "Alternate" post, it's just as likely that he simply realized that she was a Golddigger trying to pull The Baby Trap on him. And even if not, it doesn't excuse the despicable things she proceeded to do—murdering a man's wife so that she could marry him, being a lousy wife/stepmother to him/his daughter, killing him and his daughter to stop him from divorcing her and killing her friend who she hired to commit the murders in order to dump all the blame on her. Her pleas for mercy regarding being given the death penalty ring hollow.
