  • Hype Backlash: In Russia, the game was massively hyped by the local press as a blockbuster title that would be competitive with such games as Doom³ and Half-Life 2, and prove Russia's ability to develop popular AAA titles. So when it came out and turned out as rough as it did, this caused no shortage of commotion. In particular, one gaming magazine's rather hyperbolic praise of the realism of the game's water is still something of an injoke between Russian gamers.
  • So Bad, It's Good: While the actual game is considered below-average, the English translation and voice acting are hysterical.
  • Special Effects Failure:
    • Some most of the English translation's voice acting is done by a single person, the developers attempted to mix it up by pitchshifting most of the NPCs. The effect is not at all convincing.
    • Water bodies are simply a mirror texture.
  • Surprisingly Improved Sequel: Battle for Savitar makes a honest effort to improve on the first game's flaws. The amount of repetitive environments is cut down, interactable objects are made clearer and hitscan enemies now stagger when shot, removing their Demonic Spider qualities.
