- And You Thought It Would Fail: Word of God said this was his consensus in the beginning. While he did plan to make it a Long Runner, he also planned it several endings early in the series in case it got discontinued (the shortest of is Volume 3). 13 years later and it's still running with nearly 47 volumes.
- Growing the Beard: The first 7 volumes/first season of the anime starts off as the typical harem genre, including giving each girl a spotlight and fanservice. Later volumes are more plot-focused and the fanservice rarely happens.
- Ho Yay: Koutarou and Elexis. While they both have harems of their own, they show at least as much interest in each other than they do towards any of the girls.
