YMMV / Inseminoid

Go To

  • Anvilicious: Where Alien was fairly subtle in its rape symbolism, Inseminoid is blatant.
  • Awesome Music: The electronic score by John Scott. The composer was unable to afford a full orchestra as per his normal modus operandi due to the low budget, but was able to afford plenty of studio time to mix the recordings as he pleased. The results sound just as imposing and epic as any orchestrated score.
  • Cult Classic: Despite the fact that most reviews (both past and present) have been scathing towards the movie, Inseminoid has enjoyed a cult following over the years and some online critics do seem to enjoy the film despite its shortcomings.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Say what you will about the rest of the movie, but the alien birth scene is immensely disturbing, in no part due to Sandy screaming in a way that doesn't even seem humanly possible. A clip of her screams ended up becoming the infamous jumpscare sound effect from the first Five Nights at Freddy's game.
  • Older Than They Think: The Five Nights at Freddy's jumpscare sound actually originates from the alien birth scene in this film.
  • Signature Scene: Sandy's rape and her subsequent birth scene are the two most infamous scenes in the movie.
  • So Bad, It's Good: The common verdict for reviewers who enjoy the movie is that though it suffers in a lot of areas the film is overall a fun exploitation movie.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Frustratingly, throughout the movie, we get only vague hints and explanations about the mysterious alien civilization that went extinct: as soon as the team's expert xenologist begins talking about it, he's interrupted by someone or something going on.
  • Took the Bad Film Seriously: Despite her own opinion of the film, Judy Geeson's Sandy is easily the strongest character in the film. Even critics who hate the film usually single out her performance as one of the only good things.
