- Anvilicious: One complaint about the sequel is that it tends to get somewhat preachy at times and overplays the Parental Neglect aspect from the adult characters. Yes, movie, we get the message that parents should prioritize their children - you don't need to murder one set of the parents and force the other to lose his job to deliver it.
- He Really Can Act:
- Jack Neo, whose career consists almost entirely of comedic roles to this point, does an impressive job portraying a borderline unlikable workaholic father who neglects both his sons.
- Same goes for Shawn Lee, who already did a great job in the first film as Kwok-Pin but improved even further as Tom Yeo. The scene where Tom disowns his father and home (From now on... TOM YEO IS DEAD!) is an unexpectedly powerful emotional Gut Punch.
