YMMV / Hugo the Hippo

• Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: Aban-Khan's wizard somehow creates giant mutant fruit and vegetable men who attack Jerma and Hugo, leading the latter to fly into space with a giant butterfly and landing on a cauliflower planet until they are hypnotized by potatoes and Aban-Khan brings them back in his tomato UFO. And then, they are back in the city, as if nothing supernatural happened, and the whole mutant veggie thing - or space thing - isn't mentioned again.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: During the mutant veggie confrontation, Jerma and Hippo face an anthropomorphic yellowish vegetable man in kimonos who tries martial arts moves at them while mumbling Funny Bruce Lee Noises. Not too dissimilar to Master Onion from Parappa The Rapper!
• Nightmare Fuel: The "hippo-cloud massacre" scene was probably intended to make the wholesale slaughter of Hugo's herd less gory, but didn't make it any less scary.
• Quirky Work: And how! Most of the scenes already look a bit psychedelic with its "artistic" use of colorful visuals, but the "giant fruit and vegetable battle" is a complete surreal trip fest, with mutant veggie people attacking our protagonists, and them going into space on a planet also made of veggies... in fact, going into further details would just make it weirder into description.
  • Not to mention the sharks wearing biker gear...
