YMMV / Hitman Sniper: The Shadows

  • It's the Same, Now It Sucks!: Essentially what the reviews boiled down to. It was simpler to complete than Hitman: Sniper, the game has several different levels instead of just one, the puzzles were simple, but well made, and the controls felt really good. However, what killed the game was this trope. The games had a small gameplay loop of completing assassinations to unlock parts in crates for weapons and new characters, which didn't really attract too much attention from the former games' userbase, which was already using an almost identical gameplay loop to begin with.
  • So Okay, It's Average: When the game was online, it was a fun time, albeit a simpler experience compared to Hitman: Sniper. However, the bad performance, limited devices the game could be installed on, and the lack of meaningful updates did not endear Square Enix in keeping the studio that made it, Studio Onoma, around for long, and canned the game about eight months later.
