* BrokenBase: Nick's rant against Creator/MelGibson at the end of his ''Film/{{Apocalypto}}'' review. While many agree with him that Mel Gibson takes a great deal of artistic license in his historical films that leave them highly [[AnachronismStew anachronistic]] or flat out false and more care should be taken to avoid this to provide an authentic representation of history, especially when one is adapting the culture of a group that is not your own, many felt his rant was excessively anger to an unnecessary decree and he came off as unprofessional in the process. It didn't help he included the Patriot as an example of an inaccurate Mel Gibson historical film, when that film was the product of Roland Emmerich. Nick himself recognized this and promised to give Mel Gibson's next historical film, Hacksaw Ridge, a more balanced and fair analysis.

** His reviews of both ''Film/{{Agora}}'' and ''Film/{{Tombstone}}'' are particularly infamous for Nick actually making several painful and glaringly obvious historical mistakes and misclaims. Unlike his even more infamous Mel Gibson rant however, he has never commented on the mistakes and was known to actively delete youtube comments that pointed them out.

* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: At the end of the ''Film/BohemianRhapsody'' video, Nick tells a story about how Mike Myers sent Music/{{Queen}} a tape of the scene from ''Film/WaynesWorld'' featuring the titular song in order to get their approval. Despite Freddie Mercury being very sick with AIDS at this point and confined to bed, he absolutely loved the scene, feeling that it took him back to the early days of the band and captured the way in which he wanted his music to be enjoyed. Naturally he and the other members of the band gave it their full blessing. Though he wouldn't live to see the release of the finished film, it would go on to play a part in reviving Freddie and Queen's popularity after his death, ensuring that they would be remembered as one of rock music's all time greats.

Critical Research Failure is a disambiguation page

* CriticalResearchFailure: While Nick has done research on the historical settings of the movies and TV shows he watched and explains which is truth and fiction, there are times where even he gets things wrong:
** ''Film/{{Agora}}'':
*** Nick is disgusted with Cyril of Alexandria, who was later made a Saint and got away with inciting the murder of the Greek philosopher Hypatia. However, Nick seems to forget that the film is a fictional telling of Hypatia's life with some changes of her character, like Hypatia being an atheist rather than a pagan. Furthermore, Cyril never ordered Hypatia's death, as she was respected by all the higher-ups of Alexandria, and there was no evidence that Cyril was connected to her death. Most historians and scholars agreed that Hypatia was an unfortunate victim of the feud between Cyril and Prefect Orestes of Alexandria. Cyril's diehard followers, without speaking with Cyril first, murdered Hypatia for purportedly escalating the feud. For more information see [[http://math.coe.uga.edu/tme/issues/v06n1/4whitfield.pdf here]].
*** Nick falls victim to the whole "[[MedievalMorons Christianity/Dark Ages halted science progression]]" mindset, ignoring the fact that only the Western Roman Empire collapsed and the Eastern Roman Empire (later known as the UsefulNotes/ByzantineEmpire) were the one that preserved Greek and Roman knowledge and survived until a thousand years later. In addition, even during TheMiddleAges, the Church and clergy were the one who sponsored the Greek studies which led to notions like Earth being round remaining common knowledge among the majority, including the peasants. Also, science was still studied and utilized elsewhere such as China and the Muslim world, who got access to Greek and Roman knowledge from the Byzantine Empire.
** In his ''Film/WeWereSoldiers'' review, he lambasts the director for filming scenes of dying soldiers telling their comrades they love their wives and families, which he sees is a Hollywood cliche...except [[RealityIsUnrealistic it really did happen]]. In the non-fiction book on which the film is based, dying soldiers did indeed say those corny words to their fellow soldiers.
*** Except he didn't allege that no soldier ever said these words and their inclusion was therefore inaccurate. He simply wished the screenplay had gone for some more original dying words.
** In the ''Film/TheLastSamurai'' review, Nick claims the Japanese isolated themselves from the outside world for over 200 years until Matthew Perry's fleet arrived. However, Japan was never truly isolated, as the Japanese traded with the Chinese, the Portuguese, the English, the Dutch, and other Europeans during the Sengoku and Edo periods respectively. Furthermore, after the Tokugawa shogunate imposed the isolationist policy of ''Sakoku'', they restricted the Dutch and other foreigners to an area of Nagasaki known as Dejima, where they would control what they could do there. Ironically, it was from the Dutch that the Americans learned about the Japanese, which resulted in Perry's fleet visiting Japan.
** In his review of season one of ''Series/{{Rome}}'', he is disappointed that the show did not film Caesar's many battles and only the aftermaths, which he negatively compares to ''Series/GameOfThrones''. Except ''Game of Thrones'' did the same thing as ''Rome'', as some battles in the show were only shown with the aftermath.
** Most of his review of ''Film/{{LawrenceOfArabia}}'' is spent comparing the film to [[UsefulNotes/TELawrence Seven Pillars of Wisdom]], completely neglecting to note that Lawrence's book was ''also'' highly fictionalized, much less compare either to actual historical accounts.
** ''Film/{{Tombstone}}'':
*** Nick calls it unrealistic and a continuity error that no one bats an eye at the cowboys' shooting their guns into the ceiling to deliver a standing ovation at the Birdcage Saloon. [[RealityIsUnrealistic Except the gunfire at the show is true]]. People would fire their weapons as a way of showing their approval for the show. There are over 100 bullet holes in the Birdcage's ceiling as proof.
*** Nick says in his review after showing the Latin SnarkToSnarkCombat between Doc Holliday and Johnny Ringo that it was unlikely Ringo would've spoken Latin given he was a dropout, when the truth was, he did. Though Ringo dropped out of school at 14, he did know the language a bit because he knew how to read well and wanted to impress girls.
